Guest Speaker:  Master Sergeant Ray Pagan, USMCR, presents “My Experiences as an instructor for the Iraqi police forces”.

Ray Pagan is a law enforcement officer in the Central Valley and a member of the Marine Corps Reserve.  He recently returned from a
tour of duty in Iraq.  While in Iraq he was an instructor for the Iraqi police forces.  He will tell us about his experiences as an
instructor, plus his impressions of Iraq, its people, and the progress of the war.

“Building the Flag”, a presentation of the National Sojourners and the Heroes of ‘76, which is part of the Masonic organization.  
“Building the Flag” is a fascinating story of how our National Ensign came to have 13 stripes and 50 stars and not 50 stripes and 50 stars.

Guest Speaker - Jack Leathers presents "French Explorer René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle"
Mr. Jack Leathers will present the French Explorer LaSalle, and speak about his exploration of the entire Mississippi River drainage
and his claim of that region for France.  Our speaker for our February 17, 2007 meeting will be historian Jack Leathers.  His topic will
be French explorer René-Robert de Cavelier, Sieur de LaSalle.  Jack will tell us about LaSalle’s exploits in the exploration of North
America as well as his claim of a vast amount of territory for the French empire.

Guest Speaker - Dr. Robert Craig presents "My Experiences as a Commissioner on the Apache Indian Reservation”
Dr. Craig has been a Director of the Westborough Water District in South San Francisco since 1982 and has served as the President of
the district on four occasions.  He also serves as a Director on the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency.  In addition, Bob
currently serves as a Commissioner on San Mateo County's Local Agency Formation Commission.

From 1965 to 1994 Bob was a professor of Design and Industry at San Francisco State University.  Prior to joining SFSU, he held various
positions with the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory.  Dr. Craig holds a Doctorate of Education at USC, a Masters Degree at SFSU, and a
Bachelors degree at U.C. Santa Barbara.  He also completed graduate studies in nuclear physics at UCLA.

One of Dr. Craig's most interesting assignments was serving as a Commissioner on the Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona.  He will
tell us about his experiences, and give us valuable insight into the status of the Apache Nation and the effectiveness of the reservation
